Vary Your Use Of Bread In Recipes

Vary Your Use Of Bread In Recipes
By Qing Hua

When thinking about bread recipes, common recipes will come to mind, whether it is thanksgiving stuffing, bread pudding, breaded fish, or French toast. The possibilities for uses of bread are endless, and can be showcased in a lot of new and unique ways.
Bread Crusted Salmon
A show stopper is a bread crusted piece of salmon. In this recipe, a salmon fillet is lightly brushed with dijon mustard. After the salmon is seasoned with a favorite blend of fresh herbs, such as tarragon, parsley, or thyme, the salmon is "crusted" in bread. A slice of white bread is trimmed of the crust, and then rolled very thin with a rolling-pin. The fish is then topped with the piece of rolled out bread, and then cooked, bread side down, until the bread is golden brown in color. The salmon is flipped, and then placed in the oven to continue cooking until the desired level is reached.
Bread in Sauce
Another unique use for bread is to utilize it in a sauce. A Spanish sauce called romesco, is a wonderful sauce used to top vegetables as well as meats such as chicken, or beef. Romesco is an almond, roasted pepper, and tomato based sauce which is pureed. The addition of sherry wine vinegar, roasted garlic, and fresh herbs are added as well. The sauce showcases bread as it is added to the tomato blend, and creates a thickness to the sauce.
Bread in Soup
Similar to romesco sauce, a variation to romeso is a Gazpacho, which is a chilled tomato based soup. Gazpacho utilizes the similar ingredients to romesco, but typically has the addition of cucumbers and onions. This refreshing soup utilizes typically sourdough bread to thicken the soup and give it a wonderful feel.
Bread in Salad
A fantastic leftover use for baguettes would be to make croutons, and better yet, the famous Italian salad known as a panzanella. Panzanella comprises of rustic pieces of olive oil seasoned baked croutons, with the addition of fresh tomatoes and basil. Fresh spring mix field greens, and a light balsamic vinaigrette make up this delicious salad. The key to the salad is to serve it at the very last moment, to make sure that the bread remains crunchy, which gives the salad its textural contrast.
French bread Pizzas
One of the easiest and quickest bread recipes to prepare during the week is to make French bread pizza. A baguette of bread is sliced in half, and spread with tomato sauce. Assorted toppings and cheese can be added, and then can be baked in a 375 degree oven until the bread is toasted.
Aside from bread recipes, bread can be used in a very handy way to degrease gravies and soups. If a visible lining of oil coats a certain sauce or soup, a chef trick is to take a piece of bread, and lightly skim the top of the soup or sauce. This allows the bread to absorb the oil without losing any of the sauce or soup you make.
With so many varieties of bread and bread recipes, and so many applications, bread can truly be elevated in dishes beyond the typical use of making sandwiches or toast.

Vending Machines Are Taking Over The World

Vending Machines Are Taking Over The World
By Fenton Wayne

Today, one is never far from a vending machine. They dispense an enormous number of different products and cater for almost anything.
A typical image of a vending machine will likely be a coffee beverage machine at the workplace or perhaps a machine dispensing snacks and crisps. However nowadays they may just as easy be vending electrical goods, sports products, make up, condoms, hot meals or even maggots for fishing.
It was in the late Victorian era that we saw the first vending machine appear in the UK. They were used to sell postcards. The ubiquitous machines today sell stamps, chocolate bars, beverages, cigarettes etc. and they are placed in convenient public places such as railway stations or any other busy public place. There was an idea developing among consumers that these machines end up rejecting most coins but the technology has advanced a lot in recent years. This is no longer true. Most modern machines now have a guaranteed vend system. This is software that ensures that unless a product is successfully vended the machine automatically refund the customer. This cuts down on irate customers and the need for refunds.
Are these machines a must for our survival or we can do without them? In Japan, there is a vending machine for every 23 people and in UK, there is a machine for every 55 people. A machine may be found on every street or corner, selling drinks, music, live crabs and even underwear in Japan. They are the biggest vending market in the world. Vending machines are getting more and more common and advanced as well.
The most commonly used machines are for snacks and beverages. One can get a freshly brewed cup of coffee or their favorite snack by just feeding the machine with the coins. Newspaper vending machines too are getting popular in US and Canada. Vending machines have undergone significant changes and are continually evolving. Many of them are now accepting credit cards to make it more convenient for the customer. The companies can monitor and audit their machines even from afar.
Modern machines are conscious of their carbon footprint and will power down and enter energy saving mode when they haven't been used for a set period. They also use low energy LED's rather and low energy lighting.
More fresh innovations in machines include improved coin and bill validation. Most telemetry technology providers are testing the market with diverse setups for the machine. We will soon come across other innovations such as internet kiosks and DVD vending. Keep in mind that vending is a multi-billion dollar industry today and expanding at a steady rate.

Storing Water

Storing Water
By Debbie A Nelson

To prepare for any kind of disaster everyone needs to learn how to store water. This article will focus on learning how to store water and purify water.
There are many tips for storing water. The most important step is making sure you have a proper container. You must store water in clean plastic, fiber glass, or enamel-lined containers. You may use recycled containers but don't use any type of glass container. These containers can be easily broken in emergency situations. It is also important to note that containers that have previously held toxic substances are not to be used. No matter how well you clean a plastic container many chemicals and poisons bleed into the walls of the plastic and you will end up ingesting them in your body. There are also many plastic containers that breakdown and decompose. Avoid using milk jugs because these have a tendency to do this over extended periods of time.
When storing water, make sure you seal the container tightly. It is also important to date and label each container and store them in a cool, dry place. It is also recommended to rotate the water every 6 months so dating the containers is crucial.
Water will only taste fresh for a certain period of time. It is recommended to rotate your water every 6 months. In order for water to sit for 6 months it is necessary to add bleach to the water. It is suggested that 8 drops be added to each gallon of water, or ? teaspoon to every 5 gallons of water. When doing this process, make sure you don't use scented, color safe or bleach with added cleaners in it. After doing this process, let the water stand for 15 minutes. If the water does not have a slight bleach odor repeat the dosage of bleach and let it stand for an additional 15 minutes. Water that is contaminated or contains disease usually has a bad odor and taste. Not all discolored water is contaminated but should be treated as such. If you are unfamiliar or uncertain as the quality of water it should be treated. Make certain to purify all water that you not only drink, but also cook or wash with.
The safest method of purifying water is to boil it. Boiling water does not remove all contaminates, but it does a good job. It won't remove heavy metals, salts and certain chemicals. If you can strain the water first that might help remove some of these items. When purifying the water bring it to a rolling boil for at least 3-5 minutes. After boiling the water then let it cool down. Water always tastes better if oxygen is re-introduced into the water. Before drinking this newly purified water, shake the container vigorously.

Finding Water Sources in an Emergency

Finding Water Sources in an Emergency
By Debbie A Nelson

When an emergency arises and no water has been stored, there are inside sources and outside sources that you can use. This article will help you locate those sources and teach you how you can use the different water sources you find.
In an emergency situation to reduce the amount of water you consume, reduce the activities you normally do. By reducing your activities your body will sweat less and therefore reduce the amount of moisture you will need to replace it with. Less activities in your daily routine will maintain a lower body temperature and will help you keep your body cool.
If water is hard to locate there are several areas in your home that you can look. The first resource you should consider is in your freezer. Look to see if you have any ice cubes in the freezer and remove them. Let them thaw out and pour the water into a glass or pitcher. This water may not have the best taste, but it is drinkable. Water found in water heaters is also acceptable to drink. Before considering drinking this water make sure the water heater has not been damaged in any way. Collect containers that can easily fit under the spicket so no water is wasted. This is usually the largest amount of stored water in your home. When needing to replace old water heaters it is a good idea to get one 55 gallon tank or two 40 gallon tanks. This will provide most of the water consumption you many need in case of an emergency. If all of the above sources are consumed, the next resource you can go to is your bathroom. Tank water is also drinkable. Bowl water is not acceptable for human consumption but is very accommodating to pets.
If the water in the house has been shut off there is also water trapped in your pipes that you can get out. The easiest way to get to this out is to turn off the main water valve. You can easily move the water in the pipes by turning on the faucet in the highest part of the home. This allows air to enter the pipes and create pressure. If the next faucet opened is the lowest part of the house, the pressure will cause the water to move through the pipes and allow it to run out of the lowest faucet in the home.
If you can't locate enough water inside your home, the next step to go outside. The cleanest water to collect is rain water. If that is not available look for streams, springs, rivers, ponds or lakes. Make certain you purify any water you locate to assure it is clean and bacteria free.
Hopefully this article has provided some creative ways to look for water. It is all around us. You just need to know where to look.

Bonding time with friends has never been this good. You do not have to spend so much just to have fun with your buddies. If you have five bucks, then, you are all set. You are good to go. Fun is economic, you know. Call your best friend, your brother, your sister, your buddy, your mate and everyone you hold dear. Enjoying one's company with the best pizza toppings, some fave grinders and ice cold beer - wow, that is priceless. And yeah, if you chip in, it is like $5 per person only.
What is the meaning of great food?
Great food brings people together. It is the art of anticipating the arrival of the food ordered - when people like you imagine how delicious it will be to devour that awesome cheeseburger with a side dish of french fries or when you think about the mozzarella cheese melting in your mouth with a hint of oregano, garlic and pepper and some beef goodies on your pizza. The food is amazingly sumptuous and the beer is cheap.
While you took about the good old times with your friends, you take a sip of that beer. You will feel a tingle of excitement and satisfaction. It is like a big sigh of relief - you are fulfilled. You are happy.
Being in a sports bar with your friends and a mug of cold drink will make the day complete.
Enjoying the sumptuous food with cold beverages is one great benefit of this bonding time with your friends. You can look forward to the sports event happening at the location every now and then. You go to a sports bar and find people like you who are sports enthusiasts. It can be boxing, American football, soccer, basketball, hockey, baseball and a whole lot more. In a sports bar, everyone else is ONE with each other. People are really having the time of their life right here; what a way to make the day complete.
Bonding is more important than money - but in a sports bar, no money worries!
Why is it no worries pertaining to money? Because in a sports bar, having the time of your life is less than cheap - in a good way! Big in food, triple big in fun but not big in price. It is the ultimate fun haven with your loved ones.

Making Homemade French Toast Easily

Making Homemade French Toast Easily
By Cory Ramage

I have never been much of a cook or a baker but one thing that I could always make is French Toast. However, I have just recently learned to bake my own bread. One Sunday my wife was not feeling well so she went to take a nap. That left me to provide dinner for the entire family. My fallback meal is usually cereal or French Toast but a quick inventory of the kitchen showed me that there wasn't enough milk for cereal and there wasn't any bread. That is when I decided to try my new baking skills and make some bread from scratch. After all, I thought homemade bread would probably make French toast even better.
I made the homemade bread from start to finish in about an hour using a simple recipe with some high powered instant yeast and lecithin. These two ingredients mix together and make bread really easy and really fast. The lecithin makes the dough really smooth and it made my loaf look professional.
One thing about making breakfast from scratch is that the whole kitchen smells like delicious fresh baked bread before you even start on the toast. The downside of this is that your kids may think that dinner is ready before you start on the toast. My kids came running to the kitchen ready to eat at this point.
Once the bread was baked and the kitchen was full of the wonderful homemade bread aroma, I stared on the French Toast. I created my special concoction to dunk the bread in by mixing or blending 6 eggs, 1/2 cup cream or milk, a little vanilla, and my special ingredient, a drop or two of almond extract together. My kids love the smell of the almond extract mixed with the vanilla. I think I had them ready to eat at this point.
I sliced one of the loaves and set my electric griddle to medium (I always start the oven or the griddle later than I should in the process), and sprayed it with cooking spray. I then dipped the bread slices in the egg mixture and put them on the griddle. Then I sprinkled cinnamon on each side as I flipped them. (I like them to be slightly browned on each side when I flip them)
Once I completed the cooking I woke my wife and said, "Do you want to come eat some French toast made from scratch?"
We devoured the French toast and I was the hero of the household.
